A strong start for Holly in 2024

We touched base with Holly to find out what she has been up to since the start of 2024 and what is coming up.

After catching up with Holly at the end of 2023. We are looking forward to continuing to support Holly in her pursuit to become the world’s strongest woman.

Am looking forward to making 2024 spectacular. The off-season has been a period of dedicated and rigorous work, addressing every little weakness and laying the groundwork for the upcoming year. While it might seem like a quiet six month son the surface, rest assured, I have been keeping myself thoroughly busy. One of my long-standing aspirations has been to host women's-only competitions, and during the off-season, I have made considerable progress. We are now organising four qualifiers for the Northern Amateur Women's League, which is set to commence in March at the impressive Stag Strength Unit in Newcastle. The final details of this event are still secret, but I am excited about the things that we have in the pipeline.

ButI now have a grand reveal which I cannot wait to tell you about. We have our first competition of the year! We are diving back into the arena for England'sStrongest Women. This competition holds a special place in my heart, as it was the first national-level event I participated in back in 2022.  It has become a bit of a tradition to kick off the year with this challenge. This time around, the pathway has evolved, with online qualifiers. This has meant plenty of solo work in my own gym, tackling events such as the max weight axle overhead, max weight deadlift, and a30-second max weight farmer's handle hold.  All these events align perfectly with my strengths, so the goal for me was simple, it was to have fun! If I qualify, the finals will once again be held in the fantastic venue at FitXpo in Manchester, so I am keeping my fingers crossed.

In addition to my competition endeavours, I will be heavily involved in media activities. I have been invited to join the official media team for the new pathway, contributing to coverage around the qualifiers and also, I'll be a guest on a podcast, delving into discussions about mental health and women in strength sports. And if that is not enough, I have participated in a docuseries, set to premiere in a small cinema in Leeds later this year so I shall be on the big screen.

It has been a busy period, but there is more to come! While the plans for the rest of the year are still taking shape, I have decided to prioritise quality over quantity in the face of increasingly formidable competition. With the events coming up and having the opportunity to be able to stand on the winners’ podium would be a dream come true. So, I am passionately chasing those dreams and staying motivated throughout.
